Former British boxing champion Willie Limond dies at 45

Scottish boxing legend, Willie Limond, passed away on Monday, a few days after he was found unresponsive in his car, the family has announced.
He was a former British and Commonwealth super-lightweight champion.
In an Instagram story announcing the death of his father, Jake Limond, who is also a professional boxer with a current unbeaten 6-0-0 record, said senior Limond died around 3 a.m. on Monday.
“My dad passed away in the early hours of the morning, around 3 a.m.,” Jake said in his statement. “He fought on for nearly enough for 10 days,” he added.
He was 45.
Limond’s death came just a few days after he was found unconscious in his car, hours after he was scheduled to partake in a public training session in Glasgow earlier this month.
He had a comeback fight with Joe Laws scheduled at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow for May 3.
In his tribute message, Laws posted: “I’m absolutely devastated. Willie just wanted to make a better life for his family.
“Willie, my old son, wait for me at the pearly gates – we can get it on. Legends never die.”
Limond, who was engaged in a short stint as a footballer, playing four times for Albion Rovers, had a total of 48 bouts in his career, winning 42 of them – 13 by knockout while he lost six times.
