Five die in lone accident on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

Five persons died in a lone accident involving a Mercedes-Benz Jeep at Fatgbems bus stop on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Sunday night.
The Ogun police command spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday.
Ms Odutola explained that the accident, which occurred at about 11:30 p.m., was caused by reckless driving on the part of the driver of the Mercedes Benz.
“The accident occurred when the driver of the Mercedes Benz, going in the Mowe direction, suddenly lost control, hit the culvert, somersaulted, and turned in the opposite direction.
“Three men and two women inside the vehicle were confirmed dead, while one person sustained injuries,” she said.
Ms Odutola explained that the injured victim was taken to AZ Carezone Hospital, while the deceased were deposited at the mortuary of Real Divine Hospital, Ibafo.
She said family members of the victims had been contacted.
The police spokesperson advised motorists to always drive with caution.
