The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated the Tinubu TorchBearers (TTB), a movement for championing grassroots mobilisation for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid for 2027.

At the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja, Mrs Tinubu announced the donation of eight coaster buses to the group to facilitate participation and mobility.

‎The TTB movement is spearheaded by Mary Idele, the National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC)

Speaking at the event, Mrs Tinubu explained that the TorchBearers is an initiative that represents commitment, patriotism, service, and the collective aspiration for a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.

‎She noted that Mr Tinubu came into office in 2023 with a clear commitment to reposition the nation through bold reforms and strategic interventions under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

‎“We must remain focused on a Nigeria that works for all and where opportunities are expanded for every citizen to contribute to our national progress, peace and prosperity.

‎“The Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at economic recovery, infrastructural development, security enhancement, educational advancement, and social investment.

‎“Already, significant steps have been taken to strengthen agriculture, support local industries, improve healthcare delivery, create jobs, attract investment, and expand opportunities for Nigerians across various sectors,” she said.

‎The first lady added that government alone cannot achieve sustainable development without the support, cooperation, and active participation of the people.

‎“This is why platforms like Tinubu Torchbearers are vital. They help communicate the vision of government, mobilise communities, encourage civic participation, and promote national unity,’’ she said.

‎Mrs Tinubu appreciated the women for their efforts at the just-concluded All Progressives Congress’ primaries across the country, which she said was largely adjudged as peaceful.

“Our party has shown the rest of the country that there can be democracy without bitterness.

‎“As we look ahead, I urge all members of the Tinubu TorchBearers to be true ambassadors of Renewed Hope by communicating the achievements and programmes of this administration clearly and responsibly to the people,’’ she said

The party’s‎ national woman leader said the movement is composed of female political gladiators and grassroots mobilisers from the 774 Local Government Areas of the nation.

‎She said the movement was designed to spread the message of President Tinubu’s successes and reforms to communities, wards, and marketplaces across Nigeria.

‎The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, applauded Mr Tinubu for reaching out to women and giving room to women to thrive.

She said no president has given women political inclusion and prioritisation like Mr Tinubu did.

‎She further described the Tinubu TorchBearers (TTB) as an unprecedented grassroots movement that proves Nigerian women are moving “from participation to power agenda.’’

‎The minister said that, under the Renewed Hope Social Intervention, more women have direct access to many benefits from the government policies.

‎She urged women to reciprocate the president’s good gesture by encouraging their families and neighbours to support Mr Tinubu’s re-election.
