The federal government on Monday reiterated its commitment to ensure that all issues concerning civil servants’ salary harmonisation are resolved.

Didi Walson-Jack, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF), made this known in Abuja during a news conference to brief media executives and other stakeholders on her achievements in 100 days in office.

She said equitable salaries for workers were one of President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s major priorities.

“I know that the issue of salary harmonisation has been on for quite some time and when I came in, I tried to find out where we are on that.

“I am aware that the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC) is working on it.

“I am also aware that there is a Presidential Committee on Salaries, and being a member of that committee, I can assure you that it is working hard to deal with all the issues concerning salaries,’’ Ms Walson-Jack said.

Speaking on civil service reforms, the HOS said she would build on the foundations laid by her predecessor to sustain the goal of transforming the nation’s service sector into a world-class service.

“The first 100 days in office is a significant milestone. It offers an opportunity to reflect on the achievements recorded, perform a thorough audit of progress, and identify the goals ahead.

“It is also a time to pause and acknowledge the challenges we face, as well as reaffirm our shared resolve to overcome them,’’ she said.

The HOCSF said that upon her assumption of office on August 14, she underscored her commitment to sustaining and fast-tracking the reforms outlined in the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021 to 2025 (FCSSIP 25).

While using the medium to appreciate all the civil servants for their efforts in discharging their duties, she said her office is collaborating with the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation to establish a consumer credit system.

Ms Walson-Jack said the collaboration was initiated to improve civil servants’ access to affordable credit and enhance their welfare.

She thanked the media for being instrumental in driving the progress her office had made so far in transforming the system.
