FG inaugurates two mobile substations in Ibadan, Saapade

FGN Power Company, in collaboration with Siemens Energy, commissioned two 63MVA, 132/33KV mobile substations at the University of Ibadan and Saapade on Friday.
Power minister Adebayo Adelabu said the project was a testament to the government’s commitment to delivering reliable and sustainable power to all Nigerians while inauguration the substations.
Mr Adelabu added that the project aligned with the federal government’s vision to modernise Nigeria’s power sector and improve the quality of life for the citizens.
The minister noted that the new substations would significantly enhance the transmission wheeling capacity by 100.8MW, benefiting the institution’s students, faculty, staff, and surrounding communities.
The FGNPC boss, Kenny Anuwe, said the project underscored the government’s dedication to providing innovative solutions to Nigeria’s power challenges.
“By strategically deploying these mobile substations, we are addressing critical infrastructure gaps and enhancing the overall power system’s capacity and reliability.
“We are committed to continuing our efforts to deliver reliable and affordable power to all Nigerians.
“The substation, located at the University of Ibadan, holds special significance – it will not only improve power supply to the university but also the surrounding communities,” said Mr Anuwe.
He added, “By providing a more stable and efficient power supply, we are empowering students, faculty, and staff to excel in their academic and research endeavours.”
The FGNPC is a special purpose vehicle (SPV) mandated to implement the PPI.
FGNPC’s mission is to address infrastructural gaps by investing in end-to-end solutions that will deliver reliable, incremental energy to customers in Nigeria.
