The Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded a 50-year-old man, Ramoni Seriki, in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre, Lagos, for allegedly raping his teenage daughter.

The chief magistrate, O. O Kushanu, refused to listen to the defendant’s plea and ordered his remand until September 11 for the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The defendant, a transporter who resides at 33, Obasa Avenue, Ijegun, Lagos, was tried for sexual assault.

Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the offence was committed on June 18, 2025, at the defendant’s residence.

Mr Ademigbuji said the defendant sexually molested his 13-year-old daughter while she was sleeping.

He said the victim confided in her mother, who had been separated from her father years ago.

According to him, the offence contravenes section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
