Farmer jailed one year for attempted assault

The Jos Magistrates’ Court on Monday sentenced a 24-year-old farmer, Zaidu Mohammed, to one-year imprisonment for attempted assault.
The magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to attempted trespass and assault.
The judge, however, gave Mohammed an option of a N50,000 fine.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that a team of officers reported the case on August 2 at the anti-kidnapping unit.
Mr Gokwat said the convict trespassed and attempted to attack his older brother after taking some substances suspected to be hemp.
He said that the offence contravened the provisions of the Plateau Penal Code Law.
