Facebook chief, Mark Zuckerberg, has announced that he underwent surgery following a knee injury he sustained while training in mixed martial arts.

The CEO of Facebook and Instagram, a parent company of Meta, Mr Zuckerberg, posted a series of pictures from his hospital bed.

“Tore my ACL sparring and just got out of surgery to replace it,” he wrote on Friday, showing his knee bandaged and in a brace.

Mr Zuckerberg added that the surgery on his knee was needed after tearing his ACL while sparring.

“Grateful for the doctors and team taking care of me,” he added in the post.

Not deterred, the 39-year-old CEO said he plans to continue his training for a competitive advantage “MMA fight” early next year.

“I was training for a competitive MMA fight early next year, but now that’s delayed a bit. Still looking forward to doing it after I recover.”

Mr Zuckerberg, one of the richest people on earth, has drawn attention recently for his skills in the ring.

In 2022, the Meta CEO said he began studying mixed martial arts during the COVID-19 pandemic, saying the sport’s “primal” mature helped him boost his energy level as he tackled challenges at work.

However, in May, he earned gold and silver medals at his first Brazilian jiu-jitsu competition at Woodside High School on Peninsula.

Also, over the summer, Mr Zuckerberg and X CEO, Elon Musk seemingly agreed to a “cage match” following an exchange between the two tech billionaires on social media.

A few weeks later, he announced that Mr Musk “isn’t serious” about the fight and that it was time to move on after details about the proposed showdown were not nailed down.
