Explosion rocks Rivers APP secretariat, police commence investigation

An explosion has rocked the secretariat of the Action People’s Party in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Monday.
Confirming this to Peoples Gazette, the Rivers State Police Command’s public relations officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, said no life was lost but investigation into the cause of the explosion was ongoing.
The command’s spokesperson said, “We heard of an explosion, we don’t know if it’s dynamite. We cannot ascertain the kind of explosion. We’ve already dispatched our EOD team, that’s our bomb disposal, to visit the scene. Investigation is ongoing. Even the commissioner of police and tactical teams were on ground to ascertain. It’s the APP, no life was lost.’’
Eons Intelligence, a media outfit focused on security matters, earlier reported on its official X platform that a dynamite explosion “occurred around 0100hrs on August 12, 2024.”
Eons stated that the blast occurred amid speculations that Governor Siminalayi Fubara, might be planning to join the APP with his supporters, following claims that his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, has taken control of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
