Expert tasks Anambra government on measures to stem health risks of hot weather

Daniel Ezeanwu, an environmentalist, has called on the Anambra government to take measures to stem the effect of excessively hot temperatures being experienced in the state.
Mr Ezeanwu said excessively hot weather could pose serious health challenges for residents.
In an interview with journalists on Friday in Awka, Mr Ezeanwu said the hot weather could come down with health challenges like meningitis, exhaustion, dehydration of body cells, eye problems, skin cancer, and mental cacophony.
Mr Ezeanwu listed the causes of hot weather to include the reckless felling of trees, bush burning, destruction of forests, and natural watersheds.
He called on governments to reclaim the environment from excessive heat by emplacing the legal framework with a matching policy framework.
Mr Ezeanwu suggested enforcing a minimum number of trees that must be planted in a compound, depending on the size of the compound, and planting trees every 40 feet on both sides of all roads.
