Ex-Super Falcons goalkeeper, Bidemi Aluko-Olaseni, loses battle to cancer

The Nigeria Football Federation has announced the death of a former Super Falcons goalkeeper Bidemi Aluko-Olaseni after an eight-year battle with cancer.
“We are sad to hear of the passing of former @NGSuper_Falcons goalkeeper, Bidemi Aluko-Olaseni after an eight-year battle with cancer,” the NFF said in a statement posted on X on Saturday.
The statement indicated that the federation’s thoughts and prayers were with the family of the deceased, praying for her gentle soul to rest in peace.
The late Aluko-Olaseni’s career with the Nigeria women’s national team was a short one as she only featured with the Super Falcons between 2012 and 2013.
According to The PUNCH, she was diagnosed with cancer in 2017 while she was playing for Nigeria Women Football League Premiership side, Rivers Angels.
She retired afterwards due to the ailment.
The deceased battled the disease before she passed away last week.
During her playing career, she also featured for Ondo State-owned Sunshine Queens.
