A former lawmaker, Nicholas Tofowomo, has decried the condition of roads in Ondo State, and called on the state and federal governments to take necessary steps to fix them.

Mr Tofowomo represented Ondo South Senatorial District in the upper chamber of the 9th National Assembly.

Mr Tofowomo, in his 65th birthday message on Tuesday in Akure, said that the roads were in terrible shape and required urgent action to rehabilitate them.

He urged all tiers of government to ensure that their roads were in good shape with a view to making movement of people and goods less cumbersome.

The former lawmaker, who once served as commissioner for transport in the state, noted that infrastructure was the foundation upon which the development of any society was built.

He said that many lives and property had been destroyed due to the deplorable state of roads in the state.

According to him, his representation in the upper legislative chamber of the 9th National Assembly ushered in many programmes that had direct and positive impact on his constituency.

As a senator, Mr Tofowomo sponsored several bills and motions.

Two of his notable bills were the National Institute of Glass Development and Training (Establishment) Bill and the Bitumen Training Institute (Establishment Bill).
