Ex-Indomitable Lions of Cameroon midfielder M’bami is dead

Scoring the golden goal against Brazil in the quarter-final, M’bami won the 2000 Olympic gold with The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

Modeste M’bami, former Cameroon international is dead.

M’bami, 40, “died following a cardiac arrest at his home in Le Havre, France on Saturday,” Goal reported.

Scoring the golden goal against Brazil in the quarter-final, M’bami won the 2000 Olympic gold with The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

He won the French Cup twice with Paris Saint Germain in 2004 and 2006. 

PSG in a tweet on Saturday said “@PSG_English learned with deep sadness of the passing of our former player Modeste M’Bami. The Club offers its sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.”

Sharing the late footballer’s photo and crying memes on Facebook, Samuel Eto’o, M’bami’s teammate and current Cameroonian Football Federation president, wrote: “you left too soon.”
