Ex-Ebonyi deputy governor’s father abducted: Police
Francis Igwe, father of former Ebonyi Deputy Governor Kelechi Igwe, has been kidnapped, the state police said.
SP Joshua Ukandu, the state police spokesperson, told journalists in Abakaliki, the state capital, on Sunday that the victim was abducted on Sunday morning.
Mr Ukandu said the victim was kidnapped on his way to church in the Ndufu-Alike community, Ikwo local government area (LGA) of Ebonyi.
“Yes, it is true, we are aware of the matter. He was kidnapped in Ikwo Council Area. Our men have been mobilised to the area for investigation and to find means for his rescue. It is very unfortunate,” he stated.
Also confirming the incident, the council chairman, Sunday Nwankwo, said the council was collaborating with security agents to find out how he could be rescued.
