EPL: Man United trounce Liverpool at Old Trafford

Manchester United returned to winning ways Monday night, beating Liverpool 2-1 at the Old Trafford.
Having lost their first to games to Brighton and Brentford respectively, United came out smoking against Liverpool who had also drawn their first two games.
Team captain Harry Maguire and talisman Cristiano Ronaldo were named on the bench. Yet United looked stronger as they took the fight to Liverpool from the whistle blast
England winger Jadon Sancho gave United the lead with a brilliant finish from inside the box 15 minutes into the game.
Liverpool played better in the last 15 minutes of first half, dominating 83 per cent ball possession but could not find a breakthrough.
Minutes into second half, United doubled their lead with a brilliant counterattack.
Marcus Rashford ran after a through pass from Anthony Martial, beating Alison on one-on-one, to tap the ball into the net.
Mo Salah got a consolation goal for Jurgen Klopp’s men in the 81st minute. The effort however could not save Liverpool from their first defeat this season.
Monday’s victory for United is a fair revenge, as they grab their first three points this season, beating Liverpool who humiliated them in a 5-0 win at Old Trafford last season.
Wth three points in three games, United are 14th on the EPL log, while Liverpool are 16th on the log with just two points in three games.
It is a huge relieve for Erik Ten Hag who has been under intense pressure for recording two defeats in his first two games at the club.
