Enugu PWDs urge Gov. Mbah to fulfil disability commission promise

The Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) has urged Governor Peter Mbah to fulfil his promise of setting up the Enugu State Disability Commission.
The chairman of JONAPWD, Enugu State chapter, Onyebuchi Mba, made the appeal in a statement issued on Friday in Enugu.
He urged the governor to fulfil his promise made during the last State Town Hall meeting held in Enugu.
According to JONAPWD, the governor promised the commission would be operational by the end of the first quarter of 2025.
“The governor should do well to fulfil his promise of establishing the Enugu State Disability Commission to give persons with disabilities (PWDs) a sense of belonging.
“Despite the governor’s transformative leadership and commitment to inclusivity, PWDs continue to face socio-economic challenges and exclusion.
“We call on the state government to prioritise the needs of PWDs. Mainstreaming disability inclusion into governance and promoting equal representation and accessibility,” he appealed.
The chairman said that with the collective support of all, PWDs could bring about positive change and ensure that the rights of persons with disabilities were protected.
