Enugu postpones proposed implosion of failed bridge

The Enugu State Government has put on hold the planned implosion of the failed bridge on the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.
The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Aka Eze Aka and his counterpart in the works ministry, Gerald Otiji, announced the postponement in a joint statement issued in Enugu on Tuesday.
They attributed the postponement to logistics challenges on the part of the Explosives Ordnance Disposal unit of the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant agencies that were to execute the implosion.
They stated that a new date for the exercise would be made public as soon as possible.
The Enugu State Government had alerted residents on Sunday to the planned implosion of the bridge scheduled for Monday.
It advised members of the public not to panic, as the EOD, the Zonal Mines Officer, and the Department of State Security would execute the implosion to restore the bridge to usefulness.
