Enugu: PDP guber candidate promises to construct 10,000km of roads

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu, Peter Mbah, says he will construct 10,000km of roads across the state if elected.
Mr Mbah made the promise on Wednesday at town hall meetings held at Aninri East and Aninri South Development Centres in the Aninri local government area.
“We shall construct 10,000 kilometres of roads across the state to enable easy movements of goods and farm produce to markets. Massive warehouses, equipment for processing, logistics and packaging will be made available,” stated Mr Mbah. “We shall generate economic agents that will patronise our farm produce.”
The guber candidate explained that his administration would provide access roads and complete an ongoing dam project to promote irrigated farming.
“Our own crude oil here in Aninri is agriculture. We have arable land here. We are going to guard our land jealously and address all cases of trespass,” added Mr Mbah. “It is part of our programme to establish special agro-allied processing zones across the state, and we will provide all that our farmers need to scale up production.”
The member representing the Aninri constituency at the House of Assembly, Chinedu Okwu and the commissioner for labour and productivity, Uchenna Ogbonna, decried flooding in the area.
They noted that flooding had led to low agricultural productivity and urged Mr Mbah to complete the dam project started by the federal government.
