The chairman of Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area, Eric Odo, says his administration will inaugurate a N25 billion Development and Humanitarian Trust Fund for the council.

Mr Odo disclosed this on Friday when a delegation of Enugu State Local Government Service Commission (ENSLGSC) led by its chairman, Nana Ogbodo visited him.

According to him, the trust fund will assist in boosting development in the area.

He said his administration had since its inception, implemented laudable initiatives in agriculture, infrastructure and education, among others to improve the lives of residents.

“Most of the things we are doing in this LGA with respect to unleashing the economic potential of Igbo-Etiti were all about vision.

“We told our people when we were elected that we want to leave Igbo-Etiti LGA as the most progressive in Enugu State, Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa.

“It is a tough ambition, difficult to meet but we have set our mind on it and that is where we are going,’’ he said.

Mr Odo said the N25 billion trust fund would be an addition to federal allocation and other revenue-generating projects by his administration.

“By the time these things are done, we will know if it is possible for us to commence work on the 50km road in Igbo-Etiti.

“We are ready to serve our people in humility, honesty and dedication.

“All these are possible because of the visionary leadership of Gov. Peter Mbah of Enugu State,’’ Mr Odo added.

The chairman lauded the council staff for their dedication and cooperation to the programmes of his administration.

“My priority is to ensure that workers of the local government are happy because their happiness is my happiness,” he said.

Earlier, the ENSLGSC chairman, Mr Ogbodo, commended the council boss for his developmental stride in Igbo-Etiti, adding that it was transforming the area positively.

Mr Ogbodo appealed to the chairman to involve staff in his agricultural programme, noting that the state government had mandated farming for civil servants.
