Enugu govt to execute road repairs in dry season: Commissioner

The Enugu government has said that it will commence aggressive road repairs and maintenance across the state as soon as the rains recede.
The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Greg Nnaji, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Enugu on Friday.
Mr Nnaji stated that the State government had concluded the arrangement to give a facelift to the roads.
He explained that because of “noticeable effects of climate change across the globe and unpredictable weather, government will wait for the rains to recede before embarking on the operation within a dry weather window.”
He also disclosed that traffic would be obstructed on some major arterial and connecting roads in the areas scheduled for maintenance works, especially in Enugu metropolis.
The commissioner assured motorists and pedestrians that adequate diversionary signs and notices would be provided at strategic locations as soon as work commenced in each zone.
He solicited the cooperation and understanding of road users during the period, assuring that necessary measures would be put in place to ensure unhindered vehicular movement throughout the period of the maintenance.
The commissioner added that the ministry would continue to provide good infrastructure, while ensuring its routine maintenance.
