Emir of Ilorin mourns Jibril Aminu, Lawal Uwais

The Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has expressed sadness over the demise of a foremost Nigeria politician and academician, Jibril Aminu and former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mohammed Lawal Uwais.
Mr Aminu died on Thursday at the age of 85, while the former chief justice passed away on Friday at the age of 89.
Mr Sulu-Gambari, in a condolence statement issued by his spokesman, Abdulazeez Arowona, in Ilorin, described the demise of the two men as monumental loss to the nation and humanity in general.
“We have indeed lost great minds, disciplinarians and symbols of national consciousness and democratic advancement.
“The late Aminu was a genius academician, administrator and politician, while late Uwais was one of the finest judicial officers and Chief Justice in the history of Nigeria.
“Both of them were my very close friends with whom I shared long standing relationships, both officially and personally,” he said.
The emir eulogised the deceased, emphasising on their contributions to the unity, peace and development of the country, through their respective professions.
According to him, their names have been stamped in gold with what they stood for during their lifetimes.
Mr Sulu-Gambari sent his condolences to the immediate and extended family members of the deceased, as well as governments and people of Adamawa and Kaduna states, respectively.
He prayed Almighty Allah to grant Messrs Aminu and Uwais absolute forgiveness, accept their good deeds and admit them into Al-Janatul Firdaus.
