Top celebrities such as Elton John, Oprah Winfrey, and Paul McCartney have paid tributes to the late country music legend Dolly Parton, who died at the age of 80 following a brief battle with cancer.

British music legend Sir Elton John, in a post on his Instagram handle, said he was shocked and devastated by the news of her death, describing the late star as an irreplaceable person with a kind heart.

“Shocked and devastated to hear the news of Dolly’s passing. A giant of an artist – unique and irreplaceable with the kindest heart.”

Renowned American talk show host, Oprah Winfrey, recalled one of her fondest memories of the singer when she wore a Bob Mackie gown on her show. She said Parton led a life that was bigger than she could have ever imagined.

“This girl from the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee dreamed a life and then lived a life bigger than she could have ever imagined, giving so generously to others in ways we saw and ways we didn’t.

“No one like her. She brought the light, and we are all better because she was here. God bless you, Dolly; you earned your wings, Ms Winfrey said.

Also, legendary British singer, Paul McCartney, a member of the Beatles, also paid tribute to Ms Parton, celebrating her amazing songwriting, singing, and philanthropy contributions.

“She was such a wonderful woman. She was so bubbly and full of life; it is difficult to take in the news that she has passed.

“Her songwriting, her singing, and her philanthropy were unrivaled in the world of country music, and it is hard to imagine living in a world without Dolly,

“I am so proud to have known her and admire her unique talents. Thanks, Dolly, for the beautiful music you gave me and the whole world. We will always love you. God bless and rest in peace,” Mr McCartney said.

Besides, Grammy Award-winning singer Beyoncé described the late singer as “bold and brilliant.”

She also appreciated her for the “many lessons on how to be uniquely oneself” and the privilege to work with her, which she promised to continue to treasure.

President Donald Trump ordered the lowering of U.S. flags for a next week to mourn the singer.

Mr Trump described the singer as “one of the greatest country singers, ” adding that her demise was a “true loss for millions of people.”
