Elon Musk’s SpaceX buys advertising campaign on Twitter for Starlink

Aerospace company SpaceX has bought an advertising package on Twitter for its satellite internet service Starlink.
Elon Musk, who owns both companies, said on Monday that the campaign would promote the SpaceX-owned and operated satellite internet service Starlink in Spain and Australia.
“SpaceX Starlink bought a tiny – not large – ad package to test effectiveness of Twitter advertising in Australia & Spain. Did same for FB/Insta/Google,” Mr Musk tweeted on Monday.
The advertising campaign is slated to run in Australia first, then in Spain.
This move comes as multiple advertisers fled Twitter after Mr Musk’s $44 billion takeover.
The Verge reported, citing an internal memo, that Omnicom Media Group cited “potential serious implications” for brands still present on Twitter. Omnicom Media represents brands such as Apple, Mercedes-Benz, and McDonald’s.
Companies like General Motors, Audi, Volkswagen, General Mills, Pfizer, and United Airlines halted their ad campaigns on Twitter amid the flurry of changes implemented by Mr Musk. This includes firing Twitter’s top executives, conducting mass layoffs of approximately half its workforce and 80 per cent of its contractors, and selling blue tick verification badges.
Last week, Mr Musk rolled out the now-suspended paid subscriber badges on Twitter, charging a monthly fee of $8. Imposters then used the paid-for blue check marks to impersonate brands, politicians and celebrities.
