Elon Musk joins Trump for rally at “failed assassination” scene in Pennsylvania

Elon Musk, tech billionaire and owner of Tesla, SpaceX, and X, joined former American President Donald Trump on Saturday for his second rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a gunman attempted to kill him in July.
Mr Trump praised Mr Musk for championing “free speech” with X, as he welcomed him to the stage at the rally, which was attended by thousands of Americans.
“As you can see, I’m not just MAGA, I’m dark MAGA,” said Mr. Musk, who publicly endorsed Mr Trump minutes after the failed assassination attempt on the former president’s life on July 13.
For Mr Musk, the November 5 election is a must-win for Mr Trump to preserve the American Constitution and democracy.
“President Trump must win to preserve the Constitution. He must win to preserve democracy in America,” Mr Musk said.
He added, “The other side wants to take away your freedom of speech. They want to take away your right to bear arms. They want to take away your right to vote, effectively.”
This rally comes as Mr Trump of the Republican Party and Kamala Harris of the Democratic Party canvass for votes across America in the run-up to the November presidential election.
Since his campaign for a second term in the White House began, Mr Trump has survived two assassination attempts.
First, in July, Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old from Pennsylvania, opened fire on Mr. Trump during a campaign event in Butler, Pennsylvania. A bullet grazed Mr Trump’s ear during the incident, which also resulted in the death of one rally attendee, Corey Comperatore, and injuries to two others. The shooter was subdued by Secret Service agents moments after he began firing at Mr Trump.
Last month, another assassination attempt on Mr Trump by Ryan W. Routh, a 58-year-old, was foiled at Palm Beach Golf Club, Florida.
