The new Commissioner of Police to Ebonyi, Falaye Olalaye, has assured all political parties of a level playing ground to secure lives and property during, before and after the general elections.

Mr Olalaye gave the assurance on Friday after taking over from the outgoing Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Garba, in Abakaliki on Friday.

According to him, police is everybody’s friend, vowing to work hard to ensure the security of people in the state.

“In Ebonyi, I will ensure that everyone enjoys maximum security while undertaking his or her lawful daily activities.

“I will give a level playing ground to all political parties to ensure peaceful conduct of the forthcoming general elections. All eligible voters will exercise their franchise,” he stated.

On the alleged recent threats from non-state actors that the elections would be violent in the South-East States, the CP described such threat as “empty.”

“On the disbanded Ebubeagu Security Operatives by the Federal High Court, Abakaliki. I will not work against the law; I will operate according to the existing law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he added.

Outgoing commissioner Aliyu Garba, said he was happy to have served in Ebonyi State and urged residents to give the new CP the necessary support to succeed.
