Ekiti farmers seek incentives to boost food production

The All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Ido-Ekiti chapter, has appealed to Governor Biodun Oyebanji to empower farmers with tractors and other essential agricultural equipment to boost food production.
AFAN’s former chairman, Oluropo Dada, made the appeal in an interview on Wednesday in Ido-Ekiti, Ido-Osi LGA.
Mr Dada commended the governor for prioritising agriculture development and farmers’ welfare in all the local governments. He said that the era of herders invading and destroying farmlands was over with the establishment of anti-grazing enforcement officers.
He appealed to the governor to fulfil his promises to the farmers by procuring tractors to ease the cultivation of farms.
“I want to commend our amiable governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, for establishing anti-grazing enforcement officers. We want the state government to assist us to secure our farms from further invasion by suspected herdsmen.
“I want to also appeal to our local government chairman, Mr Bamidele Omoleye, to help us facilitate the tractors from the state government,” he said.
Mr Dada appealed to both state and local governments to rehabilitate roads leading to the farms to enhance the smooth transportation of produce.
