Edo Guber: Female LP aspirant promises to revamp agriculture, empower women

Loretta Ogboro-Okor, a Labour Party (LP) female aspirant for the Edo governorship election, has promised to revamp agriculture and empower women if given the mandate in the September 21 poll.
Ms Ogboro-Okor spoke with reporters shortly after obtaining her expression of interest and nomination form at the LP national secretariat in Abuja on Saturday.
“There is an urgent need to change the model of the Edo economy from consumption to production to create more opportunities for the teeming youth and women.
“I want to be the governor of Edo to change their sufferings; I will provide water, improve education, carry out mechanised agriculture and revamp the economy.
“Being the governor of Edo will allow me to be the change I have always wanted to see. Through me, a new Edo will be born,“ she said.
Ms Ogboro-Okor promised to work with people from all works of life and bridge the existing dividing gap to build the Edo that the indigent would be proud of.
She thanked the Votes Must Count International Initiative (VMCII) for supporting her to obtain the form.
Barry Johnson, Country Director, VMCII, said that the group sponsored Ms Ogboro-Okor as part of an uplifting agenda for women in Nigeria to have the opportunity to participate fully in the electioneering process.
