The wife of the gov, Mary-Maudline Nwifuru, announced this in Abakaliki while performing the inauguration for the operation.
The governor’s wife appreciated the present administration’s assistance to healthcare delivery of people in the state through her pet project, Better Health for Rural Women and Internally Displaced Persons Foundation (BERWO).

The wife of the governor expressed gratitude to God for her pet project, BERWO, through which the health interventions of patients were approved.
“My passion was to reduce the burden of health challenges among the people and ensure it will come to an end through the surgical measure,” Mrs Nwifuru said.
Divine Igwe, the executive secretary, Ebonyi state health insurance agency, stated that the surgical operation would be conducted at government accredited hospitals between May 10 and May 23.
Ms Igwe said the state government had also spent N50 million for 100 sickle cell anaemia patients while pregnant women were enrolled with the agency for free antenatal and delivery.
He commended the wife of the governor for her passion to reduce health challenges for the residents.
In their separate remarks, the commissioner for health, Dr Moses Ekuma and the team leader of the foundation, Nkechi Echiegu, urged the beneficiaries to be vanguard in disseminating the good interventions of Mrs Nwifuru to the rural communities to capture others.
Calistus Nwite and Paul Igboke, both patients, expressed satisfaction over the kind gesture and urged the government to continue in its health interventions in the state
Other beneficiaries, Ogodo Ugoru and Emmanuel Chukwu, stated that they have lived with the condition since 2012 and 2014, respectively.
