Ebonyi government vows to eradicate crime, ensure safety of residents

The Ebonyi state government has reaffirmed its commitment to combat crime and ensure a safe environment for its citizens.
Etta Ude, commissioner for internal security, border peace, and conflict resolution, made this known on Sunday, emphasising that there would be no hiding place for criminal elements in the state.
Mr Ude said this followed the successful operation by the state’s Security Operatives, also known as “Neighbourhood Watch,” who arrested seven suspects in various locations in Abakaliki on Saturday.
He said the suspects were linked to different crimes, including the theft of five motorcycles and phones, as well as electrical cable vandalism.
He added that six of the suspects were involved in motorcycle theft, while one was arrested for vandalism.
Mr Ude warned the public to steer clear of criminal activities, noting that his team was determined to root out criminal elements.
He also highlighted the .inistry’s collaboration with other security agencies to tackle security issues and make Ebonyi a crime-free state.
