Easter: Gov. Yahaya felicitates Christians in Gombe

Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, has felicitated the Christians on the 2026 Easter celebration.
Mr Yahaya, in a goodwill message made available by his media aide, Ismaila Uba-Misilli, on Friday, in Gombe, admonished christians to draw strength from Jesus Christ’s sacrifice and triumph over adversities.
He called for prayers, peace, interfaith harmony and collective actions as the nation worked toward renewal and progress.
The governor said, “Easter is a solemn reminder of the triumph of good over evil and hope over despair, as exemplified by Jesus Christ.
“I congratulate the Christian faithful on the successful completion of the Lenten season and the joyous celebration of Easter and I call on them to uphold the virtues of compassion, selflessness and service to humanity.
“Easter symbolises love, sacrifice and the triumph of good over evil. I heartily congratulate our Christian brethren on the successful completion of the Lenten fast and the celebration of this spiritually significant occasion.”
Mr Yahaya expressed optimism that the blessings and lessons of the season would inspire renewed faith and strengthen the collective resolve of Nigerians toward building a more peaceful, progressive and prosperous nation.
He urged sustained prayers for peace and security, especially against the backdrop of recent violent attacks and lingering socio-economic difficulties confronting parts of the country, particularly in Northern Nigeria.
According to him, the Easter message of resurrection and hope offers reassurance that the nation’s present challenges are surmountable through unity, faith and shared responsibility.
“As a nation, we are undoubtedly passing through difficult times, particularly with the security and socio-economic challenges affecting some parts of the North. But Easter reminds us that even in our darkest moments, hope is never lost. Through collective effort and faith in God, we shall overcome and emerge stronger.
“I wish all our Christian brothers and sisters a peaceful and joyous celebration. May the spirit of Easter pave the way for a brighter future for our dear state and our great nation,” the governor added.
Mr Yahaya also urged Nigerians to remain united ahead of 2027 election and adhere to democratic principles to preserve the country’s democracy and strengthen national cohesion.
He urged religious leaders across the country to continue to preach peace, promote interfaith harmony and reinforce the bonds of brotherhood among Nigeria’s diverse communities.
