The Adamawa sector command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 698 regular and special marshals for safety and seamless Easter celebrations.

Yahaya Adikwu, the sector commander, disclosed this in a statement by the command’s public education officer, Abdullahi Tukur, on Friday in Yola.

Mr Adikwu said the command had also deployed 17 operational vehicles, three ambulances, and one tow truck for the successful operations during and after the celebration.

“The 563 regular and 135 special marshals have been strategically positioned across major highways, inner roads, and festive routes to ease vehicular movement and ensure safety for all road users during the Easter period,” he said.

According to him, the command also deployed operational vehicles, including the heavy tow truck, to help clear road obstructions that may lead to traffic jams.

“The command has stationed standby ambulances positioned along critical corridors for emergency response and rescue operations.

“We are also collaborating with sister security agencies and emergency stakeholders to ensure smooth celebrations in Adamawa during this festive period,” he said.

He also emphasised that mobile court operations would be active to swiftly prosecute traffic offenders, with a special focus on offences such as drunk driving, speeding, expired tyres, seatbelt violations, and using phones while driving.

Mr Adikwu also urged all road users to adhere strictly to traffic rules and cooperate with traffic officers, saying reckless driving and route violations would not be tolerated.

He urged pedestrians and other vulnerable road users to be vigilant, avoid unsafe road-crossing behaviours, and remain mindful of traffic flow.

Mr Adikwu said the command was committed to ensuring a crash-free celebration and encouraged citizens to play their part in achieving its mandate.
