Driver arraigned over alleged theft of employer’s N1.6 million

A factory driver, Yusuf Otulana, on Wednesday appeared before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly stealing his employer’s N1.6 million.
Otulana, who resides at Odunsi Street, Bariga in Lagos, is being tried for alleged charges of breach of public peace and stealing.
The Prosecutor,Inspector Donjour Perezi told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offences on June 1 at No. 7, City of Power St., Shomolu, Lagos.
Perezi alleged that the defendant, being the driver and distributor at Ken Success Water factory, diverted N1.6 million proceeds from sale of water to his personal use.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 168 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 287 prescribes three years imprisonment for stealing.
The Magistrate, M.O Tanimola , granted the defendant bail in the sum of N150,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the matter until October 16 for mention.
