Dino Melaye wins Kogi PDP governorship ticket

Dino Melaye has emerged the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi.
Mr Melaye, a former senator from Kogi West, clinched the ticket in the primary election held on Sunday in Lokoja.
Ahmed Makarfi, the chairman of the Kogi Governorship Primary Committee, announced that Mr Melaye polled 317 votes to defeat his closest challenger Kingsley Idoko who scored 201 votes.
Mr Melaye is now expected to square up against Usman Ododo, the APC flag bearer, backed by incumbent governor Yahaya Bello. Messrs Bello and Melaye are political archenemies.
