The Okun Development Association has reaffirmed its commitment to the development and empowerment of Okun women, coinciding with the celebration of International Women’s Day.

President-General of the group, Rotimi Akeson, highlighted the crucial role Okun women play in fostering community growth and progress.

In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Dayo Thomas, on Saturday, Mr Akeson outlined the group’s position.

He said to strengthen this commitment, ODA’s National Executive Council introduced a new office of women leader, focusing on women’s development and empowerment.

“This initiative seeks to inspire Okun women to assume more prominent roles in society,” he said.

Recognising the entrepreneurial spirit and work ethic of Okun women, Mr Akeson urged them to continue striving for excellence.

According to him, by offering essential support and resources, ODA aims to unlock the full potential of Okun women.

He said, “ODA will collaborate with local governments and relevant agencies to ensure Okun women secure their rightful place in society and access equal opportunities.”
