Delta govt bans mixing sand, cement on road surfaces
The Delta government has banned the act of mixing sand or gravel or both with cement on road surfaces throughout the state.
Charles Aniagwu, Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, said in a statement in Asaba on Friday that the act weakened such spots and caused them to be easily destroyed.
Mr Aniagwu said the ban was with immediate effect.
Mr Aniagwu said that the ban was occasioned by the fact that the worrisome acts by workmen were defacing and destroying the roads and pavements.
The commissioner said that the state government would not fold its arms and watch individuals destroy the roads and pavements already constructed.
Mr Aniagwu warned that any person caught in the act would be appropriately sanctioned and the construction site sealed.
