Dapo Abiodun an ingrate; my family funded his campaign: Adebutu

Ladi Adebutu, the Ogun state governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, has taken a jab at Governor Dapo Abiodun, describing him as ungrateful to those who have been instrumental in supporting his political ambitions.
In a statement released on Friday, Mr Adebutu accused Mr Abiodun of attempting to avoid accountability for how poorly the state has performed under his leadership in favour of making pointless political attacks.
Mr Adebutu was referring to the recent exchange between the duo, which was brought to light after Mr Daniel revealed that Mr Abiodun had betrayed President Bola Tinubu, his political benefactor, while vying for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential nomination during the primaries.
“How callous and ungrateful can someone be to his benefactors? The same OGD, for the sake of Remo-Land, favoured him over me in 2019 by rallying his entire political forces behind him when it was obvious Kunle Akinlade – the APM governorship candidate, was going to defeat him. Ditto my Dad- Sir Kessington Adebukunola Adebutu CFR- Odole Oodua of the Source, who willingly gave hundreds of millions of naira in 2019 to both our political structures because he regards both of us as his sons from the same Iperu Town. Furthermore, Odole continued to support his government with huge donations during COVID-19 pandemic and several other projects in the state. I am sure Mr Governor will not deny this. How has he acknowledged or appreciated these gestures?” the statement read.
Mr Adebutu further chided Mr Abiodun, asking him to stop desperate moves aimed at keeping himself in power against the public’s wish.
“Ogun state people are very sophisticated and can read between the lines. They have been able to discern the desperation to remain in office at all cost, ostensibly to cover up maladministration and financial recklessness in the last four years in the Governance of our dear State,” he added.
