Customs CG mourns public relations icon, Dangogo

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Kabir Dangogo; a renowned public relations expert across Africa.
Mr Adeniyi, in a statement by the service’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Maiwada, on Saturday in Abuja, described the deceased as a distinguished scholar, journalist, and trailblazer in the field of public relations.
He eulogised the late Dangogo for his impactful service, dedicating his life to excellence in journalism, public relations, and corporate communications throughout his career.
He noted that the deceased played a pivotal role in shaping corporate communications in Nigeria, having held various positions, including Press Adviser for the United States Information Service in 1990.
Mr Adeniyi added that the deceased also held the post of Public Relations Officer at Bank of the North Limited and Union Bank of Nigeria Plc.
“His influence extended beyond Nigeria, as he was the founding President of the Association of Corporate Affairs Managers of Banks (ACAMB) and Secretary-General of the Federation of African Public Relations Associations (FAPRA, now APRA). Also, Chairman of the Nigeria chapter of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) between 2002 and 2006,” he said.
According to the CG, Mr Dangogo’s passing is a great loss to the public relations and media industry, which will take solace in his legacy of professionalism, leadership, and mentorship qualities that will continue to inspire generations to come.
Mr Dangogo died on Friday, March 6, at 76.
