The Yola Electricity Distribution Company said the company is expecting delivery of 6,000 prepaid meters at the end of April.

The regional manager of the company in charge of the Jalingo office, Aminu Aliyu, made the disclosure on Tuesday during the YEDC/Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission Customer Sensitisation Engagement held in Jalingo.

Mr Aliyu said that the meters had started arriving, assuring that the meters would be distributed to four states within its operation.

He listed the states to include Borno, Yobe, Adamawa and Taraba.

According to him, Taraba would be receiving more than 1,000 metres upon their delivery.

He said that the meters would be distributed only to customers on the company’s list.

The regional manager advised customers not to allow unlawful consumers to illegally tap electricity from them.

He explained that the supply cost would reflect on the consumption device, adding that the cost would be shared among the customers consuming from the same source.

He reiterated the determination of the company to supply electricity to customers with optimum satisfaction.

He commended the Taraba State government for supporting operations of the distribution company.

Mr Aliyu appealed to customers to be committed to paying their bills, noting that the funds were paid back to service providers.

He explained that the operations of the industry were being carried out in a vicious circle, from distribution to transmission to generation companies.

Earlier, the company’s legal officer, Blessing Urang, said that the industry was the most regulated in Nigeria.

Ms Urang said that their operations established customer protection services to protect the interests of customers.

He appealed to the public to report their matters to the customer care departments for redress.

He also advised security operatives to apprehend any employee claiming to work for the company but without any form of identification.

His Royal Highness, Abba Tukur, Galadima of Muri, commended the company for improvement in power supply to the state and requested provision for credit as telecommunication operators do.
