COVID-19: Reps want FG to fund development of traditional medicine

The House of Representatives has urged that the federal government fund the development of traditional medicine to aid disease management in the country.
This followed the adoption of a motion filed by Bashiru Dawodu (APC-Lagos) calling for the funding of the National Institute for Research and Development to develop traditional medicines.
In his motion, the lawmaker highlighted the significant roles that herbal-based medicines have played in disease management.
Mr Dawodu expressed concerns that no herbal remedy had been validated for the prevention or treatment of COVID-19 even as it kept infecting Africans.
The House consequently urged NAFDAC to explore more possibilities in traditional medicine.
