UCL: Messi misses penalty as PSG narrowly defeat Real Madrid

French side Paris Saint-Germain narrowly beat Real Madrid 1-0 in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night, with Lionel Messi missing a penalty.
Paris Saint-Germain dominated the game with 58 per cent possession and eight shots on target, while the visitors had 48 per cent possession with no shot on target.
Though PSG dominated the game from the blast of the whistle, both teams went into the first half break without goals at Parc des Princes.
Thibaut Courtois denied PSG an opportunity to score from the spot in the 62nd minute. No thanks to Argentine star Messi, who failed to convert the penalty for PSG.
It looked as if the game would end in a goalless draw until French star Kylian Mbappe struck in injury-time, grabbing a late winner for the French side.
With Tuesday’s home win, PSG are looking forward to booking their place in the quarter-final if they succeed in holding Real Madrid to a draw at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
PSG have not won any way game in the Champions League this season, playing draw against Club Brugge and RB Leipzig.
