Court sacks Uzodimma, declares Okorocha as Imo West APC senatorial candidate

The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court has dashed Governor Hope Uzodimma’s senatorial hopes by declaring Rochas Okorocha the winner of the All Progressives Congress primary for the Imo West senatorial district.
On Thursday, the judge, Obiora Egwuatu, said evidence before the court showed that Mr Okorocha scored the majority of votes at the APC primary polls on May 18 and should therefore be declared the winner.
The judge directed the APC leadership to forward Mr Okorocha’s name as the senatorial candidate for Imo West and asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to acknowledge his candidacy.
The judge consequently ordered Mr Uzodimma to stop portraying himself as the APC senatorial candidate for Imo West.
The senatorial elections are scheduled for January 16, 2027.
