Court remands two men over alleged theft of motorcycles

An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday remanded two men, Opeyemi Ayinla, and Abdulahi Sanni, in a correctional facility, for allegedly stealing two motorcycles while armed with weapons.
Ayinla, 28 and Sanni, 25, whose addresses were not provided, were charged with conspiracy and armed robbery.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair, did not take the plea of the defendants for want of jurisdiction.
She, however, directed the police to return the case file to the office of the Director for Public Prosecution, for legal advice.
She adjourned the case until October 21 for mention.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Oladejo Balogun, had told the court that the defendants committed the offences on July 18, at 4.00 p.m, at Amuloko area, Ibadan.
According to him, the first defendant, Ayinla, while armed with a hammer and a plank robbed two commercial motorcyclists, Adekunle Oluranti and Adekunle Olaleye of their motorcycles worth N920,000 and N800, 000 respectively.
Mr Balogun said that the second defendant, Sanni, on the same day received the motorcycles from Ayinla with the knowledge that the motorcycles were stolen.
