Court remands two for impersonating military personnel

On Thursday, the Karu Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, remanded Kabiru Shehu and Ali Rabiu for impersonating military personnel.
The judge, Aliyu Alhassan, ordered the defendants to be kept in Keffi Prison custody until February 22.
The judge held that the remand enabled the conclusion of investigations into the case.
Shehu, 37, and Rabiu, 24, were arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and impersonation.
They, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Olarewaju Osho, told the court that the defendants were arrested on January 16, at midnight, by a team of policemen from Karu Police Station.
Mr Osho said that the team arrested the defendants while on a special raid on black spots.
He said the police team recovered the defendants’ military camouflage caps and T-shirts.
The prosecutor said the defendants could not give a satisfactory account of themselves and the uniform.
Mr Osho said the offences contravened Sections 133 and 132 of the Penal Code.
