Court remands two for alleged robbery

A Kano Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered the remand of two men, Nazifi Naziru, 20 and Sadiq Kabiru, 19, in a correctional centre over alleged armed robbery.
The defendants are standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy, house trespass and armed robbery.
The Magistrate, Farouk Ibrahim-Umar, ordered that the defendants be remanded in a correctional centre pending legal advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions.
He adjourned the matter until November 20 for mention.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Mr Umar Abdullahi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 6 at Sheka Quarters Kano.
He alleged that on the same date at about 4 a.m, the defendants conspired and armed themselves with sharp knives and entered the houses of Hauwa Sani and Amina Salihu, all of Sheka Quarters Kano.
“In the process, the defendants attacked the complainants and robbed them of their belongings such as iPhone 6 valued at N36,000, Samsung Galaxy valued N103,000 and Tecno keypad valued N16,000,” he told the court.
Abdullahi said that the offences contravened the provisions of section 97, 349 and 298 of the Penal Code.
