Court remands man over theft of power banks, speakers

A magistrates’ court in Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Monday remanded a 35-year-old man, Ikechukwu Nkwuda, over alleged theft of goods worth N6 million.
The prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that Mr Nkwuda committed the offence between June 2023 and November 2024 at No 1. Aderemi Road, Lagere, Ile-Ife.
Mr Osanyintuyi said the suspect entered the shop of one Frank Okoro with intent to commit a felony.
He added that the defendant stole power banks, chargers, MP3 Bluetooth (2), and JBI players, a total valued at N6 million, which is the property of Mr Okoro.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened sections 383(3), 390(9) and 413 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
However, Mr Nkwuda, who was not legally represented, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of entering and stealing.
The magistrate, Abosede Sarumi, therefore, asked for a formal bail application, ordered the remand of the suspect in Ile-Ife Nigerian Correctional Service, and adjourned the case until February 12 for mention.
