Court remands man, 35, for allegedly defiling nine-year-old girl

An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday, remanded a 35-year-old man, Sogo Samson, for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old girl.
The Magistrate, Abosede Sarumi, remanded Samson in an Ile-Ife correctional facility after he pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of rape and breach of peace.
Ms Sarumi adjourned the case until June 30 for mention.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, ASP Abdullahi Emmanuel, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on May 20 at 6 a.m. at Texaco Ondo Road, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Mr Emmanuel said that the defendant lured the girl into his room and had carnal knowledge of her.
He said that the defendant was caught by some neighbours who handed him over to the police.
The prosecutor added, “The defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breakdown of law and order by defiling a nine-year-old girl.’’
Mr Emmanuel said that the offences contravened Section 2(2) of the Child Right Law of Osun, 2021.
