Court jails trader for stealing sheep

On Monday, an area court in Jos sentenced Emmanuel Christopher, 25, to one month in prison for stealing a sheep.
The judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of trespass and theft and begged the court for leniency.
The judge gave the convict an option of a N10,000 fine or one-month imprisonment.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the Anglo Jos police station on April 17 by Samuel Elvis.
He said the complainant said the accused person trespassed into his farm and stole his sheep valued at N60,000.
The prosecutor further told the court that during the police investigation, the convict confessed to having committed the act.
