Court jails Ota man for theft, burglary

The Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Tuesday sentenced a 46-year-old man, Agu John, to two months’ imprisonment for stealing three mobile phones and other valuable items worth N594,000.
Mr John pleaded guilty to burglary and theft.
In her ruling, Magistrate A.O.Adeyemi sentenced the accused without any option of fine.
Prosecution counsel E.O. Adaraloye told the court that Mr John committed the offence on September 9 at about 2:00 a.m. at Asoore Village, Ota.
Mr Adaraloye added that the accused broke into the house of Adenekan Akeem and stole three mobile phones and other valuable items worth N594,000.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened sections 390 and 412 of the Criminal Code, Vol.1, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
