Court frees man accused of trespassing into Abuja airport with dog

A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Bassa, Abuja, on Wednesday, discharged a 22- year-old man, Lawrence Destiny, accused of trespassing into the international wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The Chief Magistrate, Abdulrazaq Eneye, discharged Destiny after he had spent three weeks at the Kuje Correctional Center.
Mr Eneye, who urged him to make the best use of the second chance given to him by the court, also warned him to stay away from drugs.
“The court can now discharge you into society after assessing your mental state through the correctional centre,” the magistrate said.
The magistrate also warned that if, for any reason, he was brought before him again, his punishment would be severe.
Destiny expressed gratitude to the court and promised never to go back to drugs.
He said, “I will operate a barber’s shop to make ends meet and also find a future for myself.’’
During his arraignment, the prosecuting counsel, A. Aliyu, informed the court that the defendant trespassed into the international airport with a black dog.
Mr Aliyu alleged that the defendant went to the terminal to obstruct a British Airways pilot, saying he had a message for Elon Musk.
This, according to the prosecution counsel, amounts to a security breach.
