Council inducts 16 medical doctors at Igbinedion varsity

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has inducted 16 graduates of Medicine and Surgery of the Igbinedion University, Okada, into the medical profession.
Performing the oath taking on Wednesday, the Registrar of the MDCN, Dr Tajudeen Sanusi, charged the inductees to keep to the tenets of integrity, professionalism and exercise caution at all times while discharging their duties.
Mr Sanusi, who was represented by Dr Henry Okwukwenye, advised the doctors never to be worried about the rigours of the profession as they were surmountable through professionalism and hard work.
Earlier, Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye, the Vice Chancellor of the university, said the event was part of the institution’s efforts to enhance the healthcare delivery system in the country.
The vice-chancellor described the ceremony as a momentous occasion, marking the years of hard work, dedication, perseverance and transformation on the part of the doctors.
The new doctors, whom he described as diligent, he said undoubtedly had compassion and were ready to serve humanity.
The vice-chancellor, who was represented by his deputy, Prof. Raphael Adeghe, noted that the ceremony was the 18th induction since the establishment of the institution in 1999.
”As always, our university is committed to partnering with the Medical Dental Council of Nigeria, MDCN, in its current drive to expand access to medical training as a response towards mitigating some of those challenges.
”There is no gainsaying that the field of medicine is dynamic and ever evolving, I therefore urge you to embrace the opportunity for continuous learning and growth,” he said.
The vice-chancellor also advised the newly medical doctors to uphold the values of integrity, compassion and excellence which define the institution’s laid down objectives.
Delivering the induction lecture, Prof. Austin Obasohan, underscored the need for the inductees to see the profession as a duty to humanity and to remain good ambassadors while practicing.
